Something to Know - 18 September

The United States of America and its founding fathers struggled to establish rules and guidelines by which government would succeed across this land.  We are all familiar with, or should be, with them.   As HCR shows, Benjamin Franklin admitted that he often changed his mind on how to approach and finalize each document, and when done, he felt as though matters addressed were the best that they could do, but knew that changes would still be required as time went on.

The Status Kuo, by substack contributor Jay Kuo, has us look at the messy, but necessary details of how Harris/Walz need to pull off this election.   I know that we are elated that the Democrats have had a brilliant comeback on the political stage, and we have a "how can anyone ever vote for Trump?" attitude about the whole thing.  We need to focus on something that stands in the way of having the most votes and the White House.  It is the Constitutional stone wall of the Electoral College, and currently it could mean that the Democrats could get more votes, and still lose.   So I think we need to keep that in mind as we approach the election day, and do what we can to pull it off:

Andy Borowitz is back to advise us about a new career of a not-so-highly regarded politician;  Science Fiction storyteller:

We finish up this morning with Garrison Keillor.   His opinionated views on where newspapers should be don't seem to square with him.   However, he does demand that they pay attention to political skulduggery (and that is putting lipstick on a pig), to describe our current political run for president:
