Fwd: Ukraine - Saturday, April 23

Okay gang.  I'm on a 5-day break with my friends from college days.  We are settled into a nice vacation rental..Vacasa..on a lagoon north of San Diego.   Don't have my usual desktop computer with me, so here is a morale booster.  Not sure of the veracity, but hope it works.

Two more Russian generals are KIA after UA located the RU command post in Kherson

πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¦ Two more Russian generals died, totaling 10 Russian generals. Details:

πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¦ UA forces located the command post for the Russian Army in Kherson. A successful assault killed 50 Russian officers. More details:

πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¦ On the 22th April 2022 Ukrainian Armed Forces carried out a destructive attack on the forward command post of the Russian force's 49th CAA that was put near the line of contact in Kherson district. As a result, Forward Command Post 49A was destroyed, 2 generals were KIA, and a third general heavily wounded and evacuated in critical condition. This was announced on Ukraine's Facebook page.

πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¦ As a result of the above, UA was able to obtain a bunch of intelligence and data on troops

πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¦ Russian forces were defeated around Voznesensk & Mykolaiv. They have no capacity for such advances again & may fail in the Donbas offensive in the coming weeks. Afterwards, the Russian military is likely to become a spent force, and its unclear they can hold on to gains either. Additionally…

πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¦ (pictured) The United States has assessed that without national mobilization, Donbas will be the last offensive Russia can afford, after which Russia's forces will be exhausted

πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¦ My personal forecast: Putin's Russia will be over within a year. Russia will begin its semi-centennial cycle of collapse, promise, oppression, over extension, and collapse

πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¦ My personal forecast pt2: Russia's looming collapse, combined with Russia's inverted demographics, means Russia won't start thriving again for the next fifty years.

Non-operations:

πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¦ Japan repeated its claim to the Kuril Islands. One of the planet's best-armed destroyer navies gets a look at how shitty the Russian fleet has performed in the Black Sea, realizes Russia's self-inflicted idiocy means it can't move out of the Baltics now even it wanted to, and decides to shoot its shot.

πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¦ Ukraine's government has officially registered the Moskva cruiser wreck at the bottom of the Black Sea as a national underwater cultural heritage site

πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¦ French Presidential candidate Marine Le Pen's party paid nearly $13 Million to a Russian military contractor (Wall Street Journal)

πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¦ (Marine Le Pen's supporters' justification for the above is "We had to give money to Russian Military Contractors because no French Military Contractor would take our money")

✈️ A US Navy P8 Poseidon aircraft reportedly assisted Ukrainians in hitting Moskva (Thanks Kent). I totally called it with the western support last week!

🚒 Basically, a P8 Poseidon was on patrol in the Black Sea during the sinking, and people are putting 1 and 1 together and getting a sunk ship.

πŸ‡¨πŸ‡³ China pulled the plug on Russia's sanction-evading deal.

⚠️ Countries apply to be in NATO. NATO doesn't seek to expand. Saying NATO is encroaching on Russia is Kremlin messaging

⚠️ If you ever hear anyone say "What about America…" in an effort to redirect attention away from Ukraine and onto America, that is called "Competitive victimhood" and the associated meme is *always* created by Russian-backed media. Russia has three primary propaganda efforts directed at the West, and that's the third.

⚠️ Note: I'm getting lazy with my citations and I apologize. It's all the same sources as it's always been…NATO planners, official statements, major news, other open source researchers, people who send me leads, reputable pundits like Aaron Parnas, Kyiv Independent, Institute for the Study of War, etc. Thank you especially to CP Scott, former Army and former NATO planner.

⚠️ Note: War happens fast and even high fidelity news needs a ton of corrections after the dust settles. Also, I've been spoiled by social media's format where I can update the final product every time I find a typo. While that's still the case, that poses a problem when…
