I must admit that since the polls closed, I have been in an uneasy state between pangs of depression and guarded optimism. Observing the creeping, but persistent vote count for Biden/Harris is good for the soul. At this point on Friday morning, a bit after 8am, I feel that Biden will end up with at least 303 electoral college votes, which is more than the 270 required to claim victory. Trump's performance is dismal with great doses of abject disgust, proving he never was and will never be. Doubtful that he will even be present at the transition of power at the inauguration. Historians will have a field day writing about this chapter of our political life. The question will be - will there be a painting of Trump in the halls of the White House, or will his legacy be a digital time capsule buried in the slime and muck of the Foggy Bottom swamp?
I do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.
