Something to Know - the 4th of July

1.  The subject of serving this country through some form of duty or National Service has been brought up before by me.  EJ Dionne brings it out again in a manner which makes more practical sense and helps to focus on what good it would do for the soul of the USA:

2.  I seem to recall Catholic Archbishop Timothy Dolan, of New York, on 60 Minutes and several other media spots where he came across as a jolly old spirit who reeked of just too much jocularity and seemed to having too much fun.  Well, it turns out that he is just as much of a shyster as some of the other clergy, and lied through his teeth.  Unfortunately, he was outed in a "leaked" document " that was part of another trial.  His offense is not of the usual nature of many of the other disgraced, but just as much a scourge upon his organization:

3.  Quiz Time.  Gail Collins comes up with a timely test on your knowledge of current events about the GeeOpie:

A man is never more truthful than when he acknowledges himself a liar.
