Fwd: Things to Know - 19 August

1.  When we were young, we heard about the perils of alcohol and drinking.  At the same time we were laundered through the curricula of American History, Government, and Democracy.  Through a long process of living the life from cradle to grave, we find ourselves at the GOP Party Time!   Whooo Hooo!   The drink of the day is the RumRyan;  a fermented and distilled concoction from the exfoliation of elephant hides, dirty money, and spent shotgun shells.   Throw in a liberal batch of 10-High Bourbon, Luzianne Tea, and let the stuff sit for at least two weeks.   Pour this distilled beverage over Love Canal Ice, and mix with equal parts of Koch - Voila!  The RumRyan and Koch:

2.  I like this intro - DO NO TRUST THE PARTY THAT NEVER WANTED MEDICARE IN THE FIRST PLACE !!:

3.  This whole thing about "Romney and His Taxes" is taking on a life of its own.  It has transcended from just the numbers, size of the numbers, and the mystery of how he was able to get all those numbers - it has gone from that to questions about the soul of his character, his apparent love and admiration of his father and great leaders, to his demonstrated lack of whatever it is that he admires.   He is an enigma.  And he is hiding a lot of stuff that he does not want us to see.  That, by friends, is not Leadership:

4.  One of the charming attributes of the Daily Show is that it brings you in with a promise that you are going to find something funny to laugh about.  Yes, it does that.  Sarcasm on the systematic dismemberment of voters' rights can get your attention, but it truly is no laughing matter, the Republicans have no sense of shame in what they are doing:

5.  Paul Ryan is not having a good experience on campaigning on the federal level.  Here's this You Tube video of him blaming Obama for closing the GM Janesville plant in 2009 as a result of his failed policies, yada yada yada.  Through the marvel of technology, there is a library of digital records on just about anything ever written or said.   Mr. Ryan has a demonstrable flaw in that he says stuff that is not true, and when presented with a recorded presentation of what actually happened.....he is confused.   Actually the plant was closed under the Bush watch in 2008.   Mr. Ryan is not ready for prime time:

6.  One thing is very clear.  The Romney people do not want Rachel Maddow and MSNBC News anywhere in close proximity to the debates, Mitt promises to cancel out if they are.  They are that afraid of being exposed:

7.  A 92-year old WW 2 Vet, retired district court judge, and quite a poet:

8.  Of all the cranked up crap that the RomRyan duo is throwing up to see what sticks on the wall is their wailing that they are really looking out for Seniors by doing the best possible job with reforming Medicare.  Really?   We may be "small minded" because we want to see some solid tax return proof, but we ain't that dumb.  All I can say is  DO NOT TRUST THE PARTY THAT NEVER WANTED MEDICARE IN THE FIRST PLACE:

9.  Adding to the fear and confusion on the Romney side of the campaign, Obama is not behaving and operating in the image that his GeeOpee detractors had him painted.  Obama is actually calling out Republicans who "misspeak", and he fights back when attacked.   Thinking that he could be slimed by calling him a Muslim, not born in the USA, and a weak and effete pinot-noir drinking arugula loving uppity, the Republicans are now calling him mean and dirty.   Welcome to the new way of "making my day":
