Something to Know - 29 August

Trump is flailing as his poll numbers continue to drop.   It is difficult to state exactly what the definition of his "flailing" is, but it could mean that his composure and attention to details and direction of his campaign are fuzzy and full of vitriol.  HCR does a fine job of trying to explain the definitions of "Marxist, Communism, and Socialism", which Trump is banding about, which are just junk words in the MAGA lexicon.   The guy is cracking up, and the more he feels threatened, it becomes more apparent.  Anyway, today's article takes us through the historical maze of political uses of the definitions (of the above), and the how and why the threatened political establishment used them.   In the meantime, the Democrats keep rolling in unity and strength.

We also have another substack writer (I subscribe to him as well) who peeks into the state of Georgia.   The Harris-Walz team is going there, not to the big metropolitan centers, but to the rural areas where folks don't get many political visits.   It is the rural areas of the South where the people of color have a need to be shared with, and they have the votes.  This plan is being pursued in other states, and it is driving MAGA cans furious.

To fill a void, I present to you an article about "sweating corn", and what it means to our environment.   If you are not wise to midwest agricultural issues, you might find this interesting.   At 0600 in the morning, it is a bit early for all of the regular news sources to hit my inbox, so, this is the best that can be found right now:
