Something to Know - 14 August

At 6015 this morning, I am finding the following links to send out.   The news worth reading can come at any time.  By stacking them up by links rather than cut-and paste, it works better.   The first one is HCR, her email arrives late the night before  I post it.  Today she speaks to the genesis of our Social Security, which was signed into law by FDR, but was actually instigated by a very powerful woman, his Secretary of Labor - Francis Perkins and was brought to the floor of Congress by Dr. Francis Townsend.  The right wing conservatives have tried ever since to repeal or scale back this Social Security Act of 1935.  The law has proven to be very successful in spite of detractors.  Even today with Project 2025 detailing all of the proposed actions to crush the middle class and democracy, the Project has alienated the nation against it and the GOP, and the comical reaction by Trump saying he has "never heard it before and knows nothing about it" pretty well exposes the issue.

Now, David Borowitz:

And we finish up with Garrison Keillor.   Those of us who remember gathering around the radio (remember those devices that did not have a video screen), to list to Prairie Home Companion?   Well he is back with us writing away like HCR and the rest of the Sub-Stack gang:
