Heather Cox Richardson resurrects documentation from 1945 on the subject of Facism. From 78 years ago, we are still in the throes of fighting this destructive element in our midst. The way HCR reincarnates this message from the past is in a form that would appeal to people who have been long neglected in the education process of understanding the meaning of democracy and other forms of government. When it gets down to the level of someone like my hero, George Carlin, in explaining squishy things like this, we will have found a way out of this mess. I have a sense that there is a level at which people find Timothy Snyder and other very smart folks appealing and we learn a great deal. However, in most instances, those conversations end up more like just preaching to the crowd. We must remember that a truly woke and educated person is but one vote in our democracy, and that those who are missing, or who do not really understand the points brought forth by others are voters as well. If our democracy is to survive, a level of communication needs to be developed so that all elements of society understand what is at stake.
