Something to Know - 21 April

Some of you may know that I am auditing the Pomona College Politics 098 class on Political Journalism this semester.  The professor invited me in as she is teaching this class for the 1st time, and wants to know how it pans out.  There are 14 students, all Seniors with a few from Scripps and Pitzer, but mostly Pomona.  We have had quite an extensive syllabus of 9 books to read this semester, and two projects involving the writing of in-community and out-community investigative pieces.  We are in the process of now reading Fire and Fury by Michael Wolff, and professor McWilliams just posted some gems for us to read to discuss this next week.   They are entertaining and I think you might enjoy them, so I am passing them on.   There is no exam on these, so have fun:

Patriotism is not a short and frenzied outburst of emotion but the tranquil and steady dedication of a lifetime.
- Adlai Stevenson
