Multiple political stories over the last three days, on a variety of media, suggest that we may be heading for a constitutional crisis.
1. White House sources report that Trump spends most of his time obsessively watching news channels to make sure that most of the stories are about him and show him in a favorable light. Aides try and fail to turn his attention elsewhere:

2. Trump was enraged by cable-news stories showing that the Women's March crowds on the Mall were bigger than his inaugural crowds, and he commanded Spicer to call a news conference and lie about it --precipitating a fundamental loss of confidence in White House veracity, and launching the "alternative facts" meme:

3. Trump's office is continually announcing initiatives and policy shifts that are sure to be rejected by Congress -- reinstating interrogative torture, building The Wall out of general funds, repealing Obamacare instantly and providing medical coverage for everybody, etc. His obsession with being the greatest in every metric is driving him to undertake a lunatic search for three million illegal-alien Clinton voters. All of this is starting to generate hard opposition among Congressional Republicans:

4. The Congressional Democrats are coming together around a policy of simply blocking or at least delaying everything Trump proposes. McConnell is not going to change the Senate rules to prevent this:

5. Trump's aides and Cabinet picks are contradicting him and leaking unflattering news tidbits all over the map:

And so on. Some of this may be media malice and bias; but the general picture that's emerging is consistent with Trump's history as a man who always wants to be center stage in a pink spotlight, who is accustomed to slap lawsuits on anyone who speaks ill of him, and who expects everybody in his organization to do what he says immediately, no questions asked, or be fired -- and who may be constitutionally incapable of presiding over a government where none of these conditions obtain and it is necessary to spend one's time negotiating, listening, and reading and discussing reports instead of watching cable news and popping out intermittently to attract the cameras. The situation may drive him over the edge.
