Later on this month, my wife and I will be touring Asia - from Cambodia, Thailand, Vietnam and cruise ports on the way back to Vancouver. I think you might find this LA Times article on today's Hanoi of interest. Since the "War with the Americans" is long gone, what has become of this tiny struggling country? Well, the farmers have been forced out of their land by the economics of free trade, and are working in urban factories (check the shoes and shirts you are wearing), and the rich are getting richer and the poor are increasing in numbers and getting poorer. Does this sound familiar? The present condition, rife with corruption can be called "crony capitalism" and a mix of "neo-feudalism":
