Something to Know - 3 June (Yes More)

Jerry Holbert
(yes, this cartoon is intended to cater to those who oppose any efforts of political will to clean up our environment)

1.  This op-ed by David Brooks speaks to the problem that I am having right now.  I cannot seem to focus on just one thing any more.  I've got Snowden, Climate Change, corruption in the EPA, FDA, etc, the GeeOpie, Immigration Reform, and "the normal aging process" all cluttering my mind with stuff.  This piece suggests to me that I need to go back and just concentrate on having a good shot of Tequila with a Moosehead beer chaser, and think of cruising in French Polynesia:

2.  If you are following the corporate doings of Duke Energy in the South, and North Carolina in particular, you are aware of the problem.  If this is an unfamiliar issue, you will find this to be the achilles heel of the Big Energy (Coal and all fossil fuels).   The resulting pollution from extraction and energy production is killing us (literally).   Yesterday, the EPA issued standards on greenhouse gas reductions.   Companies like Duke Energy (who own the state legislators and governors) are going to cry all day and night about how this is going to kill our economy.   These teardrops have been shed at each and every step along the way since the Clean Air Act was passed decades ago.   This is where the rubber hits the road on the political will to keep fighting and repelling any and all efforts to recall effective regulation on the toxins that are put into our air, water, soil, food, and body:

3.  This next editorial will help to understand what I was writing about (above #2).   This is the political will that is necessary to continue to create a cleaner and healthier world for all of us:
