Something to Know - 13 February

I will be out of the country on vacation.   Will be back on or about St. Patrick's day

1.  The following article is one that is difficult to preach to the college bound student, or those who are in college and are faced with majors, continuing education, and the debt to be incurred.  The definition of an "educated person" is difficult to stand by itself when one is having to figure out the "return on investment" on time and resources to be spent in earning a degree.   It is a tough sell:

2.  Charles Blow provides his take on the recent utterances by Clarence Thomas.  For someone who has all the the verbosity and loquaciousness of a potted plant, one would find Mr. Thomas's opinion somewhat strange:

3.  The Keystone XL Pipeline is a guaranteed polarizer.  Here is a discussion, which you might find interesting. or might piss you off.  In any event, the discussion has Bill McKibben on one side and some lady from the Petroleum institute on the other, and others in between:

If the machine of government is of such a nature that it requires you to be the agent of injustice to another, then, I say, break the law.
-- Henry David Thoreau
