Congress Drops Ball on New Year's Day
Sadly, our New Year's predictions have all come true. Congress and the President had all year to do their jobs and be fiscally responsible – and, just like we said they would, they waited until the last possible moment to fail their nation miserably with a "fiscal cliff" scheme to raise taxes and keep overspending.

We wish our predictions were wrong but, sadly, we were right.  We predicted that our government "leaders" would fail, once again, to cut over-spending – and they failed.  We predicted taxes would go up, not down, and they're going up.  We predicted the President, the Senate, and House leadership would play politics and look out for themselves, instead of the American people, and that's exactly what they did.

This deal is a disaster. The tax increases in this 'deal' will affect prices and costs of goods and services around the country and jobs to be lost, something conveniently ignored by many in Washington. We can expect another manufactured crisis over the debt ceiling, a crisis easily averted if our leaders in Washington would address overspending now instead of the right before we hit our credit limit.  Instead, Washington will probably raise the debt ceiling yet again, treating our tax dollars as Monopoly money to be spent at will with no regard for the future.

However, there are a some elected officials who we can applaud for standing for our principles and keeping the promises for which they were elected. We will include a list and contact information for these members of Congress on our website tomorrow. Please call and thank them for standing up for our principles.

Unfortunately the rest of the politicians from both parties have an addiction to overspending and they must face it now—not at midnight the day before another so-called "deadline" approaches. Any of our 12 possible solutions to overspendingwould be a better alternative to the out of control spending Congress now engages.  We will continue to stand up for fiscal responsibility – even if we are the last ones standing.

Thank you for continuing the fight!

I don't really have to read the details of what is in the "deal".  However, if the Tea Baggers are not happy, it means that they just might go away now.
