Things to Know - 7 June

1.   Here's the best video (from NASA) that shows the transit of Venus in front of the sun.  It is nice that there are things over which the Koch Brothers have no influence:

2.  Hmmm....this is not good.  In my memory, the last time some state did not want to follow the program, U.S. Army troops showed up to make sure that the program was obeyed.  Governor Wallace of Alabama was the culprit back then, and now this guy Rick Scott of Florida is todays' culprit.  Let's see how this works out:

3.  As Romney is now trying to court the Veterans' vote (I think he gave up on the Latino effort), some close inspection of his past comments and actual facts reveals that he flip-flops on his Vietnam participation and flat out misrepresents what he did do:

4.  Here is an example of what we are going to be like all over the place.  When we effectively dumb-down our education system, we produce some severely closed-minded minions who cannot connect the dots on the qualifications of Math major to an Astrophysics Major:

5.  In all the fury of the Walker win, in the wee small hours a Democrats pulled an upset in a Senate sea, which put the opposition Democrats now in control of the state senate.  Not sure what that will mean, but may Walker cannot complete his agenda:

6.  Robert Reich accurately points out anti-Obama ad buy, orchestrated by Karl Rove.   I think it is time to take the nice gloves off, and the Democrats need to campaign in this manner - They are no longer running against Romney, the Democrats are running against the Koch Brothers (and show their pictures), and Karl Rove (and show is sorry puss), and might as well throw in Grover Norquist (and his arrogant pose as well).  These are people outside of the system who are channelling money from the banks (and name them all), the chemical companies (and name them all), and the energy companies, (and name them all).  Their secret billions are trying to buy false ads like the to convince you to vote for the guys who are going to run and vote the way they want them - because they buy their legislators and pay the to do what they want.  This is not America, and you should be smart enough to realize that.  They are hoping you are not smart:

7.  The NY Times editorial and its take on the future after Wisconsin.  It is not pretty:

8,  Good news for airline travelers going through LAX in the near future - free Wi-Fi....for a little while (well, that is better than none, like it is now):

9.  Even though California's tobacco tax lost, there is a perfect opportunity for the state legislature to pick up the ball and pass the intended legislation:
