Things to Know - 10 June

Ben Sargent

1.  Unfortunately for his Mittness, he recognizes that his favor ability and his acceptance by the Latino (aka Hispanic or Brown) constituency is poor, he picks a go-to-guy as his front man in that effort.  However, when your surrogate is eve less liked than you are, things are not going to go too well:

2.  A very hoarse and jubilant Elizabeth Warren urges her supporters onward, and includes this great statement: "No, Mitt, corporations are not people. People have hearts, they have kids, they get jobs, they get sick, they love, they cry, they dance, they live and they die. Learn the difference.":

3.  Nobel Prize economist Joseph Stiglitz explains how we really do not have a progressive tax system in the states of america, and how the middle class has been screwed, and how the pulling back of regulation of Wall Street gave even greater need for regulation:

4.  Here is evidence that there is Big Money support within the GeeOpee on gay issues and marriage equality.  It is an interesting paradigm shift within an intractable group:

5.  Maureen Dowd paid a vist to former President George Bush (the real president, #41 - not the bumbling reformed drunk, #43).   Poppy comes across as a pretty neat chic kind of guy:

6.  This article looks at the role that race and racism may play in the general election of 2012:

7.  A vintage cello is a treasure and source of pride and great music.  When it is gone - stolen in this case - it a constant source of agony on how it was failed to be protected.   In this story, it plays out like this, and was returned to the original owner 16 years later.  A good Steve Lopez story:

8.  Last month, Romney raised more money than Obama.  We know the donors to Obama.  Last time around and before that, the Republican guys  (Bush and McCain) both released the name and amount from their donors.  This time, his Mittness is not releasing any information other than the total amount received.  I guess we can see how this is going to work out.  Money is Power.  Secret Money is very Powerful:
